Meet Dr. Emily Hecker, D.C.
Metabolic Health With a Functional Focus
Dr. Emily didn’t always plan to work in health care. A violent, unexpected reaction to the flu shot became the spark that shifted her path. At the time, she was working as both a pilot and a meteorologist, logging long hours in the air and front of screens. But chronic pain and unexpected health issues led her to ask a bigger question: What if there’s more to health than just managing symptoms?
That question never left her.
What began as curiosity grew into a full career pivot, and today, Dr. Emily is known for helping patients get real answers through a blend of chiropractic care and functional medicine.
Combining Clinical Strategy With Deep Curiosity
Dr. Emily earned her chiropractic degree from Logan College of Chiropractic, along with a Bachelor of Science and multiple postgraduate credentials. She also holds an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management and a Certificate in Medicinal Plants from Cornell University. Her academic background is as wide-ranging as the conditions she addresses—from autoimmune conditions and hormonal imbalance to complex nutritional genetics.
She is a Certified Nutritional Consultant and ICPA-certified in the Webster Technique. Dr. Emily has trained extensively in functional endocrinology, neuroimmunology, thyroid support, blood chemistry analysis, and mold-related illness. She was also a founding member of the Functional Medicine Club at Logan University, and today she returns to campus in a teaching role, showing future providers how to run successful functional medicine practices.
Science-Backed Solutions for Complex Health
With over 15 years in practice and a decade as founder of Enlighten Functional Medicine, Dr. Emily has built a reputation for helping people navigate the “why” behind their health struggles, especially when conventional answers fall short. Whether it’s MTHFR mutations, infertility, inflammation, mold toxicity, or digestive issues, she uses metabolic mapping and nutrigenomic insights to guide her recommendations.
My role is to listen to the story your labs are telling. When we combine genetics, symptoms, and lifestyle clues, we get a much clearer picture of what your body actually needs.”
She is also an active provider for SHAPE ReClaimed™ and creator of the Geneius Food Formula. Dr. Emily’s work in public health encompasses podcasts, presentations, and educational programs that make science accessible and practical.
Real Life and Real Balance
When she’s not interpreting blood work or reading up on the latest research, Dr. Emily loves spending time with her family. A Midwesterner at heart, she’s happiest cheering on her boys—whether at the hockey rink or along the soccer sidelines. She also has a soft spot for hiking, dancing to ’80s throwbacks, and keeping up with the quirky Muscovy ducks in her neighborhood. Her love of interior design is one more way she brings harmony to the spaces and people around her.
