Spinal Decompression in O’Fallon

Gravity and Aging

chiropractors sitting at tableEach of us is constantly in a battle with gravity and again. Gravity compresses our bodies while aging makes us less elastic. These two factors often lead to damage of the spongy material that sits between our spinal bones, called the spinal disc. Pressure from our weight, trauma from an accident and or the cumulative effects of stress on our spinal joints can weakened the disc. This weakening of the disc can lead to arthritis, stenosis, sciatica and disc bulges (when the soft spongy center of the disc escapes). Any one or all of these conditions can be quite painful.

What is “Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression”?

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression refers to the process of decreasing the compressive forces on spinal nerves or spinal discs that have developed from arthritis, injury or something called a “slipped disc” or “disc bulge” by using specialized technology. Since spinal nerves and discs are constantly under weight-bearing pressure, they can be slow to heal. By gently “decompressing” your spine, we can help relieve pressure and enhance healing.

How do we Decompress your spine?

We use an FDA cleared technology called the DRX9000 Device. The DRX9000 relieves pain by enlarging the space between the discs. The negative pressure created by the DRX9000 device releases pressure that builds on to the disc and nerves, allowing the herniated and bulging disc to eventually go back into normal position. Intervertebral disc decompression is the only treatment that is truly the most effective for severe cases of herniation, degeneration, arthritis, stenosis and pressure on the nerve root. According to a clinical study performed by the Orthopedic Technological Review in 2004, said that 86% of all cases experienced spinal pain relief with disc decompression.
